Childhood obesity is a growing problem in the United States. Nearly 15 percent of children are overweight, leading to spiraling medical bills and health issues later in life. How do you stop your child suffering this fate? Diet Pills are not really an option that most of us want to consider for our children, so let’s take a look at the more natural ways that you can ensure that your child has a healthy and happy lifestyle.
- Incorporate fruit and vegetables into your child’s diet. Replace unhealthy snacks such as chips, chocolate, and candy with fresh fruits such as apples or bananas, or vegetables. The best way to get your kid eating vegetables is to prepare them in easy to eat pieces, such as carrot sticks or baby tomatoes. This makes them as easy to eat as the chips you are trying to cut out.
- Cut out the soda. Sugary drinks are bad for your child for so many reasons. The high sugar content is bad for their teeth, their weight, and can increase their hyperactivity levels, making it hard for them to concentrate at school and at home. Replace sodas with more healthy alternatives. The ideal drink is water, but we all know that kids aren’t going to love that idea. Try fruit shakes with dinner, and juices to send to school with them.
- Get them up and out of the living room. Most kids come home from school and watch television or play video games. This means that they aren’t getting enough exercise which can aid obesity. Get them cycling or roller-skating. Find an after school sports club they can join. They’ll get fit and make new friends at the same time!
Although it can be hard to try and get your kids to like their new healthy lifestyle, with a little bit of perseverance you can do it. And your lifestyle will probably take a turn for the better as well, especially if you go roller-skating with them!
