Feder takes Wolf to task over oil vote
Incumbent against using petroleum reserves
By Garren Shipley -- Daily Staff Writer
WINCHESTER — With 100 days until voters go to the polls, both the Republican and Democrat running for the 10th District House seat are pulling few punches.
Democratic challenger Judy Feder's campaign took incumbent Republican Rep. Frank Wolf to task for a Friday vote against H.R. 6578, which would have released some 10 percent of the 700 million-barrel Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the market.

"This is the second time this week Congressman Wolf has voted to oppose economic relief for Virginia's hardworking families," said Luke McFarland, Feder's campaign manager.
The Democrat's campaign also criticized Wolf this week for voting against a foreclosure bailout bill.
"People in this district have a lot of respect for his three decades of service, but votes like this make it clear that our opponent just doesn't represent change in Washington," McFarland said.

Friday's scrum was the second major engagement of the week.
Feder's team attacked Wolf on Thursday for his vote against the H.R. 3221, which would require the Federal Housing Administration to help people facing foreclosure refinance their mortgages. It would also have allowed non-itemizers to take a $500 deduction for property taxes.
"How can you be an agent of change if you continue to vote in lockstep with powerful Washington interests?" McFarland asked. "Voters are ready for something different."
...
"Judy does not support tax increases for middle income Americans who are looking for relief from the fallout from scandal with foreclosures," McFarland said.
Election Day is Nov. 4.
