Getting something done on health care

There’s no question that getting the cost of health care under control is critical to our nation’s economic vitality. Plain and simple, health care costs are eating up workers’ wages, business profits, and local, state and federal budgets.  Americans shouldn’t have to choose between caring for a child and putting food on the table. I believe every American should have access to quality, affordable healthcare, that’s why I’ve been fighting to fix our broken health care system for more than three decades. For every one of us, being able to get quality health care when we need it—for ourselves and our families—is fundamental to our sense of security.  In Congress, I’ll put my expertise and experience to work fighting to:

  • Make health care more affordable by getting a handle on out-of control premiums and limiting out-of-pocket expenses, so no one loses their life’s savings because of a sick child or a hospital bill.
  • Guarantee coverage for all Americans, including access to the full range of benefits provided to Members of Congress; if it’s good enough for congress, it’s good enough for the people they represent
  • Promote choice of health care plans so we can decide what’s best for our own families, including the choice to keep our current doctor
  • Provide portability of coverage even if you lose your job
  • Put an end to insurance discrimination on age or pre-existing conditions
